Five Ways to Use Photos from Your Event

If you’re reading this blog post, it’s either because:

  • You had an event and want to know how to use the photos from it

  • You read my blog post on why you should hire a professional photographer for your event, OR

  • You’re deciding on hiring a photographer for your next event and want to have good reasons to hire a photographer.

Whatever the reason may be, I’m here to tell you that you should hire a professional photographer to capture your event and there are SO many ways you can use those photos from the event. Here are five ways:

  1. Employee spotlights: Your hardworking employees deserve some recognition, and one of the many ways you can do that is by doing an employee spotlight, whether it’s a blog post or a social media post. It’s not typical to get a lot of photos of your employees, so when you hire a professional photographer for your event, you have so many great opportunities. You can use photos of them from the event for the employee spotlight post and it could be in the form of a short interview/Q+A, a small bio, and/or some fun facts.

  2. Promote company culture: People want to buy from people. It’s as simple as that. When a company has a lot of employees and is focused on marketing the company’s services and/or products, it’s easy to forget to show faces every once in a while.

  3. Hiring: When I was on a job search, I would stalk the companies profiles- Instagram, Facebook, website, etc. I want to see the people I’d be potentially working with/for, and try to get a sense of the workplace culture. When you’re hiring, you obviously want to hire the best people. So it is important to show that your workplace is the best.

  4. Event recap: If you’re missing some content for your email newsletters, blog posts, social media posts, etc., fill in your content calendar with an event recap! Write about the highlights and post some photos (or the whole gallery) of photos from the event.

  5. Future event marketing/promotions: When you’re promoting an event, sometimes photos say more than words. Plus, it’s so much easier to convey the event through photos versus words. Seeing the expressions of happy people, the food, the venue, etc., can do so much more than just saying “We have so much fun at our annual event. This year, we will be hosting it at 123 Main Street. Join us on July 30th for a charcuterie spread made by Charcuterie Company, a raffle……” If you’re putting all of those words in a post with no photos, that’s really not going to get much attention.

I get it, planning content can be a lot of work, but you can make it a whole lot easier on yourself by outsourcing. I recommend hiring a branding and commercial photographer because the right one will photograph your event with marketing in mind. For instance, when I photograph events and branding shoots, I think about where the photos are going, how they’ll be used, and all of the possibilities.
