Five Ways to Use Photos from Your Event

If you’re reading this blog post, it’s either because:

  • You had an event and want to know how to use the photos from it

  • You read my blog post on why you should hire a professional photographer for your event, OR

  • You’re deciding on hiring a photographer for your next event and want to have good reasons to hire a photographer

Whatever the reason may be, I’m here to tell you that you should hire a professional photographer to capture your event and there are SO many ways you can use those photos from the event. Here are five ways:

Employee spotlights: Your hardworking employees deserve some recognition, and one of the many ways you can do that is by doing an employee spotlight, whether it’s a blog post or a social media post. It’s not typical to get a lot of photos of your employees, so when you hire a professional photographer for your event, you have so many great opportunities. You can use photos of them from the event for the employee spotlight post and it could be in the form of a short interview/Q+A, a small bio, and/or some fun facts.

Promote company culture: People want to buy from people. It’s as simple as that. When a company has a lot of employees and is focused on marketing the company’s services and/or products, it’s easy to forget to show faces every once in a while. It’s incredibly important to build trust, and showing the people behind the brand can help with that.

  • Instagram - If your company has a presence on Instagram, there are so many ways you can use these photos to promote your company culture. If you’d like to share multiple photos in one post, you can create a carousel post or a reel. If you’re trying to get even more engagement on Instagram, you could do a little trivia/poll on your Instagram story, using photos of a particular employee and having people guess fun facts about them (two truths + a lie, guess their favorite _____, etc.)

  • Website - Some webpage/webpage section examples to use photos of your team members from the event photos:

    • Achievements and Certifications

    • Core Values/Mission Statement

    • Join Our Team

    • Company Journey/Brand Story

    • Timeline (similar to above- this could be great for celebrating a milestone like a business anniversary)

Event recap: If you’re missing some content for your email newsletters, blog posts, social media posts, etc., fill in your content calendar with an event recap! Write about the highlights and post some photos (or the whole gallery) of photos from the event.

Hiring and Partnerships: When I was on a job search, I would stalk the companies profiles- Instagram, Facebook, website, etc. I wanted to see the people I’d be potentially working with/for, and try to get a sense of the workplace culture. There were times when I went to their websites and social media presences and all I saw were stock photos/graphics, or pages that barely had updated photos- I wasn’t quite sure about those ones. When you’re hiring and/or wanting to get partnerships with other brands, it’s important to keep your website and social media presences up to date with fresh photos of your brand/crew.

Future event marketing/promotions: When you’re promoting an event, sometimes photos say more than words. Plus, it’s so much easier to convey the event through photos versus words. Seeing the expressions of happy people, the food, the venue, the overall vibes, etc., can do so much more than just some words. While copywriting is important, when you pair great copywriting and great photos, it makes it even better and more attention grabbing.

If you’ve already hired an event photographer and will have a ton of photos to use for your marketing, great! There are so many ways to use those photos and I hope this resource helps give you some new ideas. If you haven’t hired an event photographer yet, let’s chat!
